John Levin was one of the finest doctors produced by "Old Blockley, as Philadelphia General Hospital was known to the people who worked, or were treated, there.  The name "Blockley" was derived from "Blockley Almshouse", which was  in Blockley Parish. PGH, founded in 1729, was the oldest hospital providing continual care before it closed in 1977.

Lawrence De Maria is primarily a fiction author, had has produced more than 33 thrillers and mysteries. But he was a close friend of John Levin since they were  teen-agers.
